Josh Hughes is a mixed media artist from Albuquerque, New Mexico, currently living in Boulder, Colorado. He received a BA in Art History and English Literature from Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA, in 2019. His practice involves cut and folded paper sourced from ink drawings, inkjet printed photographs, and recycled materials. Hughes catalogs visual information as a means of obfuscating and highlighting moments and events, just as memories both expand and deteriorate with time. His paper textiles attempt to destabilize concrete meaning and association through fractured renderings of the rural and urban landscapes that make up America.
